When researching into opportunities for women in the Aviation Industry, I was referred to WAI as a resource for scholarships, mentorship, aviation history, and more by 2021 Miss United States, Samantha Anderson. Upon my acceptance into the American Airlines Cadet Academy in September 2022, it all became clear.... this was actually happening: my dream was taking off, and I was going to be a pilot.
From attending my first aviation event, 'Girls in Aviation Day' (09/24/2022) at Dallas Executive Airport (KRBD), to receiving my first aviation magazine (WAI's 'Aviation for Women' magazine), there is so much that Women in Aviation International offers, including local chapters across the world.

The 99's
The Ninety-Nines ("The 99's") is a non-profit, international organization of women in aviation. Considered the first major group/organization comprised of all female pilots, the Nintey-Nines organization was founded on "November 2, 1929, at Curtiss Field, Valley Stream, Long Island, New York."
"In 1931, Amelia Earhart was elected the first President, and the group selected the name "Ninety-Nines" to represent the 99 charter members. Membership was immediately opened to other women as they became licensed pilots. In recent years membership has been opened to include women with student pilot certificates." Learn More
Amelia Earhart was the first female pilot I had heard of in my upbringing. Only in 2021 had I met a woman in flight training, and in 2022, had I met a female pilot (in the airlines too!)- all kind, empowering members (and decedents) of the 99s.
